Thesis Topic: Biofuel cropping and manure management effects on soil microbial abundance and activity in Ontario soils.
I quantify microbial gene and transcript abundance to assess ecosystem functioning and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission potential within Ontario agricultural soils; specifically I use molecular techniques (qPCR) to assess microbial denitrifier and nitrifer abundance and activity in response to agricultural management practices.
